I need help identifying a certain type of hand percussion instrument.?

I am an avid percussionist and found out that I am indeed better at
using my hands than using sticks to play out beats, so my instructor
has advised me to take up hand percussion. He is on vacation as of
now, and he wants me to find a couple instruments to find interest in
and start practicing. I bought a cajon and absolutely love it, but
there is a certain instrument that caught my attention while listening
to some songs but cannot quite place what the name for the drum is. It
sounds like a bongo/djembe/conga (I do not know which) and is played
in the background of songs either slowly or very quickly.

I believe the drum played in each song is the same drum, and I really
would like to identify it for future purposes.
