Carol Burnett draws publicists' nod

Hollywood publicists have tapped Carol Burnett to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Intl. Cinematographers Guild's 49th annual Publicists Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Feb. 24. Kudo was announced Wednesday by ICG president Steven Poster and Henri Bollinger, Awards Committee chairman. The org noted Burnett has won six Emmys, two Golden Globes, a special Tony Award, a Peabody Award, a Kennedy Center Honor and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. "Carol Burnett has had an extraordinary career and a reputation for direct involvement in the promotion of the shows and movies in which she has starred," Bollinger said. "She has a clear understanding of the role publicity plays in the success of TV shows and movies." Previous recipients of the award include George Burns, Lew Wasserman, Warren Beatty, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Clint Eastwood, Julie Andrews, Harrison Ford and Robert Zemeckis.
